Backpacking, dayhiking, canoeing-kayaking, and snorkeling. Chances are, if you spend much time on this peninsula, and if you like the outdoors (and you probably do, or you wouldn't be reading this), you have YOUR OWN favorite outdoor adventure to share. It could be a canoe trip down the Suwannee river, walking your favorite section of the Florida Trail, snorkeling off Sombrero reef, whatever. For example, below is my good friend, Don, frying up breakfast bacon in some remote campsite deep in the Everglades. What a great trip this was. We explored the Everglades from the salty waters of the Gulf to the sweet waters of the sawgrass. Don's a great all-round guy, a professional caterer, and an outstanding camp cook. He knows food, and he knows how to fix it. "I'm a professional," he always reminds me with that jokester's smile, "don't try this at home."
We've been on some great trips that we've been pleased to report to you. Perhaps, you'd like to share one or more of your trips with us here at FloridaAdventuring. Your experiences are valuable to us. If we can read about things you've done, we can do the same things. And if you can read about stuff we've done, you now have ideas for more things to do in Florida. All too often, when people hear about Florida, they only hear about extravagant theme parks and the most popular, well-known beaches (South Beach, for example). Now, these places can be fun to visit. No doubt. But what about the OTHER Florida, the wild Florida, the Florida you don't hear much about? Big Cypress, the Green Swamp, the wild Panhandle coast, windswept and desolate Cape Sable, the Shark River, Cayo Costa, and more. These are just some places we want to know about. So, write in. Tell us the story of your favorite Florida outdoor adventure. Where was it? How did you get there? Anything special we need to know? You get the idea. Your story may bring some comments from other interested visitors. It'll be fun to hear from others on the same topic.
